Check-ups and general dentistry

Check-ups with a dentist who explains everything first

Routine dental care for adults and kids in Bakersfield, in a calm room on Buena Vista Rd.

Chapter 01

What a check-up is actually looking for

Most of what a check-up finds is small. A bit of decay starting between two teeth where a brush doesn't reach. Gums that bleed when they're cleaned. A filling that has worn thin or picked up a crack. None of it hurts yet, which is exactly why it's worth looking for.

Caught early, those things are usually quick and simple to deal with. Left alone, they commonly turn into the toothache that makes you call on a Tuesday afternoon. A routine visit is how you stay on the first side of that line.

The visit itself is a cleaning, a careful look at every tooth and your gums, and a conversation about what was found. If something needs attention, Dr. Kaur will tell you what it is, how urgent it really is, and what the options are.

How a visit runs in Suite 660

You'll sit in a grey chair in front of a blue watercolour wall, with a monitor beside you so you can see what the team is pointing at. Nobody has to describe your own mouth to you in the abstract.

Cleanings are done by the hygiene team, and patients name hygienists Evelyn and Dani in their reviews. Then Dr. Kaur comes in. One patient wrote that she was very gentle and explained everything that needed doing, and that's the order we like: explanation first, treatment second.

If you have a question mid-visit, ask it. Put a hand up if you need a break. It's a small office on Buena Vista Rd in Bakersfield, and nobody is working to a stopwatch.

Chapter 03

If it has been years since your last visit

Plenty of people come in after a long gap. One reviewer wrote that she hadn't been to the dentist in a very long time and had grown up fearing it. She came away recommending the office to her family.

There's no lecture about the gap. The first appointment is a check-up and a plan: what's fine, what needs doing, and what can wait. You decide the pace, and Dr. Kaur will tell you whether something really shouldn't wait.

Most insurances are accepted, so bring your card and we'll go through it with you. Financing is available through Cherry if a larger plan needs spreading out. Call (661) 454-7600 and the front desk will find you a time, Monday to Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
